Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1311 (LINC01311) is a human long non-coding RNA that does not encode a protein and is transcribed from a locus distinct from known protein-coding genes[3]. LINC01311 has been found to promote cell proliferation and inhibit apoptosis and autophagy, potentially through acting as a sponge for microRNA miR-146a-5p. In Alzheimer’s disease models, reduced expression of LINC01311 correlated with increased apoptosis and autophagy, suggesting a possible neuroprotective function. There is currently no evidence that LINC01311 is directly targeted by therapeutics, nor is it characterized as a conventional drug target such as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or transcription factor[1].
