Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1342 (LINC01342) is a human long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) that does not encode a protein but is instead transcribed as an RNA molecule over 200 nucleotides in length[1][4]. It belongs to the subclass of long intergenic non-coding RNAs (lincRNAs), which are transcribed from genomic regions that do not overlap with annotated protein-coding genes[3][4]. While its detailed biological mechanism is incompletely characterized, LINC01342 has been reported to be up-regulated in gastric cancer, indicating its potential as a molecular biomarker for diagnosis[2]. Like other lncRNAs, LINC01342 may participate in the regulation of gene expression at transcriptional and post-transcriptional levels, influence chromatin state, and serve as a node in regulatory networks associated with cancer and other diseases[3][4][5]. There is currently no evidence supporting its role as a direct or conventional therapeutic target, nor are there known drugs that interact with this RNA[1][2].
