Target intelligence / Profile preview
Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1347 (LINC01347) is a human long non-coding RNA transcript classified as a long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA), meaning it is autonomously transcribed, longer than 200 nucleotides, and does not overlap protein-coding loci[1][3]. LINC01347 has been identified as a regulatory RNA that promotes cell proliferation and contributes to chemotherapy resistance—specifically, resistance to 5-fluorouracil in colorectal cancer—by acting as a molecular sponge for the tumor suppressor miR-328-5p and increasing expression of the oncogenic protein LOXL2[2]. High expression of LINC01347 is associated with late-stage disease and poor prognosis in colorectal cancer patients and may have utility as a prognostic biomarker or a therapeutic target[2]. As with other lincRNAs, its precise mechanisms and broader physiological roles are not fully characterized, but evidence supports its involvement in critical gene regulation processes relevant to cancer progression and treatment resistance[1][2][5].
Acts as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) that sponges miR-328-5p, thereby upregulating LOXL2 expression leading to resistance to 5-fluorouracil
