Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1409 (LINC01409) is a long non-coding RNA gene encoded on human chromosome 1. LINC01409 produces non-coding RNA transcripts that do not overlap protein-coding genes and belong to the class of long intergenic non-coding RNAs (lincRNAs). LincRNAs are recognized for their regulatory roles in gene expression, often influencing chromatin structure, transcript stability, and acting in a cell-type or tissue-specific manner. Although LINC01409 itself is not a well-characterized molecule and its function remains to be elucidated, it is incorporated in molecular risk signatures for cancer and may reflect disease-associated transcriptional changes, particularly in colorectal cancer patient samples. At present, it is not known to interact directly with any drugs, nor is it classified as a therapeutic target. Its primary relevance is as a non-coding regulatory element and potential biomarker, not as a receptor or enzyme.
