Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1414 (LINC01414)

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1414 (LINC01414) is a member of the long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA) family. LincRNAs are typically defined as non-coding RNA transcripts longer than 200 nucleotides that do not overlap protein-coding genes and are generally involved in regulation of gene expression through multiple mechanisms such as chromatin remodeling, transcriptional control, and RNA stabilization[1]. LINC01414 itself has been identified in genetic studies as associated with susceptibility to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD); certain polymorphisms in this gene can either confer increased risk or have protective effects for COPD in defined populations[2].
