Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1482 (LINC01482)

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1482 (LINC01482) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), meaning it is a RNA transcript longer than 200 nucleotides that does not code for a protein[1][5]. LINC01482 is classified among long intergenic non-coding RNAs, which are known to regulate gene expression through various mechanisms. Published studies indicate that LINC01482 plays a regulatory role in cancer biology, with particular evidence in colorectal cancer. Functionally, LINC01482 acts as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) by sponging microRNAs—specifically, it binds to miR-331, thereby modulating the expression of downstream targets such as human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2), and promoting activation of key oncogenic pathways, including Akt and ERK1/2 signaling[3]. Experimental studies have shown that knockdown of LINC01482 inhibits cancer cell proliferation and invasion and promotes apoptosis in vitro.
