Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1500 (LINC01500) is a member of the long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA) family, which are RNA molecules transcribed from regions of the genome that do not overlap with protein-coding genes[5]. LINC01500 does not encode a protein, but appears to function in the regulation of gene expression and chromatin architecture. A recent genetic association study found that a specific SNP in LINC01500 (rs17094983G>A) was linked to a lower risk of colorectal cancer in first-degree relatives of patients, indicating this non-coding RNA may act as a genetic modifier of cancer susceptibility and serve as a potential biomarker for colorectal cancer risk stratification[1][5]. There is no robust evidence to suggest that LINC01500 is currently a direct therapeutic target or that it interacts with any approved drugs.
