Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1505 (LINC01505)

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1505 (LINC01505) is a member of the long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA) class. These are RNA molecules longer than 200 nucleotides that do not code for proteins and do not overlap with protein-coding loci[3][7][9][1]. LincRNAs are known to regulate gene expression through a variety of mechanisms, including remodeling chromatin, stabilizing RNA, and acting as transcriptional regulators[3][7]. A subset, including LINC01505, may have tissue-specific roles in fine-tuning gene expression[3][7][1]. While LINC01505 itself is not currently recognized as a directly druggable therapeutic target, similar lincRNAs have increasingly been implicated in cancer biology and resistance to infection, and studies indicate that LINC01505 may interact with SARS-CoV-2 and associated viral RNAs, suggesting a potential role in infection-related pathways[4]. No small molecules, drugs, or clinical biomarkers have been identified that directly target LINC01505 to date.
