Overview

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1512 (LINC01512) is a long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA) that does not encode a protein but has been recognized for its oncogenic potential in cancer, particularly lung adenocarcinoma[1][5][2]. LINC01512 has been shown to promote cell migration, invasion, proliferation, adhesion, and colony formation, while inhibiting apoptosis, thereby contributing to tumor growth and progression in both cell line and animal models[2][5]. High expression of LINC01512 correlates with more advanced disease stages, greater metastatic potential, and shorter survival in lung adenocarcinoma patients, suggesting its use as a prognostic biomarker and potential therapeutic target[2][5]. As a lincRNA, it fits into the class of non-coding RNAs that regulate gene expression, but unlike protein-coding genes, it is transcribed from regions of the genome that do not overlap with coding sequences[3][6][9]. While its precise mechanism of action remains to be fully elucidated, LINC01512 is part of a group of regulatory RNAs whose dysregulation is implicated in cancer biology. There are currently no known drugs that directly target LINC01512.
