Overview

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1515 (LINC01515) is a human long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA), a subclass of long non-coding RNAs defined as autonomous, non-protein coding transcripts longer than 200 nucleotides that do not overlap protein-coding loci[1][3]. LINC01515, like other lincRNAs, is involved in regulation of gene expression, chromatin remodeling, and can act as a scaffold for interacting proteins and regulatory RNAs[3]. Recent studies implicate LINC01515 in the cellular immune response to influenza virus infection, where it appears to activate intracellular immune genes, such as type I/III interferons and interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs), and its knockdown promotes viral proliferation in cell models[2]. Additionally, LINC01515 has been reported to show altered expression in several cancers, including colorectal, renal, and hepatocellular carcinoma[2]. It has a demonstrated interaction with the RNA-binding protein DHX9, which may be relevant for its regulatory effects in viral responses[2]. At present, LINC01515 is not considered a direct therapeutic target (such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter) and there are no known drugs that specifically target it.
