Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1525 (LINC01525) is a human long intergenic non-coding RNA gene, classified as a lincRNA. lincRNAs are a subclass of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), which are defined by transcripts longer than 200 nucleotides that do not overlap annotated protein-coding genes. lincRNAs are known to regulate gene expression, remodel chromatin, and participate in transcriptional regulation, sometimes acting in enhancer-like roles or affecting RNA stability. Most lincRNAs, including LINC01525, have not been functionally characterized, and their biological roles remain poorly understood. While several lincRNAs have been associated with cancer and other diseases (e.g., LINC00511), there is currently no evidence linking LINC01525 to any specific disease or therapeutic application.
