Target intelligence / Profile preview
Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1535 (LINC01535) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) implicated in the development and progression of several human cancers including colorectal cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, osteosarcoma, esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, and cervical cancer[1][2][3]. LINC01535 functions primarily as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA), "sponging" specific microRNAs such as miR-761 and miR-214-3p, thereby regulating the expression of downstream oncogenic targets and influencing signaling pathways such as PI3K/AKT. Upregulation of LINC01535 is associated with increased cancer cell proliferation, invasion, metastasis, and resistance to anticancer drugs like cisplatin[1][2][3]. These properties make LINC01535 a promising potential biomarker and therapeutic target, particularly in malignancies where it is overexpressed, although targeted therapies remain investigational at present.
"Sponging" microRNAs (e.g., miR-761, miR-214-3p): Acts as a decoy to modulate microRNA availability for other gene targets; Regulation of gene expression through RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC); Modulation of downstream signaling (e.g., activation of PI3K/AKT pathway via VASP in hepatocellular carcinoma); Influence on cell biological behaviors relevant to oncogenesis (proliferation, invasion, chemoresistance)
