Overview

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1538 (LINC01538) is a human long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA), defined as an RNA transcript longer than 200 nucleotides that does not code for a protein and does not overlap with known protein-coding genes[1][7][5]. LINC01538 has been identified and cataloged in several genomic databases, and alternative names include TCONS_00026184 and RP11-909B2.1[1][5][8]. Like other lincRNAs, it is presumed to regulate gene expression, often in a tissue-specific manner, and may contribute to the fine-tuning of neighboring gene activity through various mechanisms, including chromatin remodeling and RNA-mediated regulatory functions[7]. Recent studies indicate that LINC01538 is significantly elevated in the serum of patients with acute myocardial infarction, suggesting a specific disease association and its potential utility as a highly sensitive and specific diagnostic biomarker for this cardiovascular event[3]. There is currently no evidence that LINC01538 is a therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or a direct drug target[1][5][7][3]. No drugs or therapeutic agents have been reported to interact with this non-coding RNA, and no mechanisms of drug action or related safety concerns have been described in the literature to date.
