Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1547 (LINC01547) is a human long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), previously annotated as C21orf67, C21orf69, and PRED54, that primarily functions as a negative regulator of cancer cell proliferation and migration[3][2][1]. Recent research has identified that LINC01547 encodes a small 76-amino-acid regulatory microprotein (LINC01547-ORF). This microprotein interacts with CLDN18 protein, influencing the focal adhesion (FAK), PI3K, and AKT signaling pathways, which are important in cell adhesion, migration, and tumor progression. In colorectal cancer, LINC01547 is typically downregulated, and its forced expression suppresses tumor cell growth and migration. The lncRNA does not fall under classic drug-targetable protein classifications such as receptor, enzyme, or transporter; rather, it is an RNA gene with emerging roles in tumor suppression, with its encoded microprotein providing further mechanistic insight into its function[2][1][3]. While a therapeutic target role is not currently established, its disease association and regulatory effects in cancer biology make LINC01547 an area of active investigation.
