Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1548 (LINC01548)

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1548 (LINC01548) is a member of the long intergenic non-coding RNAs (lincRNAs), a class of RNA transcripts longer than 200 nucleotides that do not overlap with protein-coding genes and generally lack significant protein-coding potential[3]. LINC01548 is also known as C21orf54 and, according to some databases, as an "Uncharacterized protein encoded by LINC01548." However, there is no current, credible evidence that the locus actually produces a functional protein[3]. Like other lincRNAs, LINC01548 may be involved in the regulation of gene expression through diverse mechanisms, such as acting as a scaffold for chromatin-modifying complexes or modulating transcription in cis or trans, but its specific cellular or disease function has not been definitively characterized[1][3].
