Long intergenic non-protein-coding RNA 1567 (LINC01567), also known as LOCCS (lncRNA overexpressed in colon cancer stem cells), is a long non-coding RNA involved in the regulation of colon cancer stem cell properties[1][3][4]. LINC01567 is notably upregulated in colon cancer stem cells and promotes proliferation, invasion, migration, tumorigenicity, and chemoresistance in these cells[1][3][2]. Mechanistically, LINC01567 functions as a "sponge" for microRNA-93, binding and inhibiting its activity, which leads to upregulation of oncogenic proteins such as Musashi-1 (MSI1) and maintenance of stemness[1][2][3]. Knockdown of LINC01567 reduces colon cancer stem cell growth and tumor formation, highlighting its potential role in cancer progression, but it is not a traditional therapeutic target such as an enzyme, receptor, or transporter[1][3][2]. There are currently no known drugs targeting LINC01567 and no established roles for it as a clinical biomarker or specific safety concerns documented in the literature[1][3][4].
