Overview

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1571 (LINC01571) is a long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA), defined as a transcript longer than 200 nucleotides that does not encode a protein and does not overlap known protein-coding regions. LincRNAs, including LINC01571, are understood to mediate diverse regulatory functions such as influencing gene expression, chromatin structure, and genome architecture, often with high tissue specificity. According to genome analyses, LINC01571 is located at chromosome 16q12, with its precise genomic coordinates available. Recent studies using bioinformatic approaches have identified LINC01571 as part of lncRNA-based prognostic signatures in cancer, specifically low-grade glioma, where its expression level is associated with patient prognosis. However, its mechanistic role, interacting proteins, or direct contribution to disease processes remain to be defined. LINC01571 is not a protein, enzyme, receptor, or a typical therapeutic drug target; it is a non-coding RNA gene. There is currently no evidence for LINC01571 interacting with any drugs, nor a defined mechanism of action for pharmacological targeting. It is sometimes used as part of multi-gene prognostic biomarker panels in oncology but is not itself a therapeutic target. No safety concerns have been described in the context of LINC01571, as it is not a direct target for interventions. This molecule is best classified as a long intergenic non-protein coding RNA (lincRNA), functioning (as far as current knowledge allows) in gene and chromatin regulation, with some evidence for association with cancer prognosis but not as a therapeutic target.
