Overview

LINC01585 is a long intergenic non-protein coding RNA gene located in the human genome and transcribed into a non-coding RNA longer than 200 nucleotides that does not overlap protein-coding regions[1][3][5]. It acts primarily as a modulator of gene expression and appears to inhibit breast cancer cell proliferation and growth when overexpressed[2]. Mechanistically, it binds the NONO nuclear protein; when LINC01585 is downregulated, NONO instead interacts with CRTC, promoting cAMP/CREB-mediated gene transcription and cancer cell growth[2]. LINC01585, like other lincRNAs, contributes to the fine-tuning of gene expression with remarkable tissue specificity and regulatory diversity[5][7]. It is being investigated as a potential biomarker in cancer but is not currently considered a receptor, enzyme, or known drug target.
