Overview

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1595 (LINC01595) is a member of the long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA) subclass, which are defined as autonomously transcribed RNA molecules longer than 200 nucleotides that do not overlap with protein-coding genes[1]. LincRNAs, including LINC01595, are typically not translated into proteins and function in the regulation of chromatin structure, transcriptional regulation of gene expression, and maintenance of genome architecture[1]. Many lincRNAs exhibit tissue-specific expression and may modulate the expression of neighboring genes via enhancer-like or other regulatory mechanisms[1]. While some lincRNAs contribute to cellular processes and have known roles in disease, direct evidence for functional or disease associations with LINC01595 specifically is currently lacking in the literature. No small-molecule or biologic drugs are known to specifically target LINC01595, and it is not regarded as a canonical therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or transcription factor.
