Overview

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1605 (LINC01605) is a long non-coding RNA located on chromosome 8, known to play several roles in cancer biology and the regulation of osteogenic differentiation[1][5][3]. It has been implicated in promoting proliferation, migration, and invasion in various cancer cell types by acting as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) that modulates the activity of specific microRNAs such as miR-496-3p and miR-3960, consequently influencing the expression of genes like SOX11[3][5]. LINC01605 has also been described as an osteogenic differentiation inhibitory regulator, blocking the differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells into osteoblasts, thereby potentially influencing bone health[1]. High expression or dysregulation of LINC01605 has been reported as a potential diagnostic or prognostic biomarker for certain cancers, including colorectal cancer and laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma[1][5][3]. There are currently no approved drugs that target LINC01605 directly, and its modulation presents significant therapeutic challenges due to the broad, pleiotropic effects typical of lncRNAs.
