Overview

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1614 (LINC01614) is a long non-coding RNA located on chromosome 2q35 and classified as an intergenic lncRNA[3]. It is expressed at low levels in most normal tissues but is frequently upregulated in a variety of malignancies, including lung cancer, breast cancer, gastric cancer, colon cancer, glioma, esophageal carcinoma, and osteosarcoma[1][2][4][5][6]. LINC01614 functions as an oncogenic lncRNA, promoting tumor progression by stimulating cell proliferation, migration, invasion, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, and modulating processes such as extracellular matrix organization and cell adhesion[1][2][4][5][6]. Mechanistically, it has been shown to regulate signaling pathways including PI3K-Akt and act as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) by binding microRNAs (for example, miR-217)[4][6]. High expression correlates with advanced tumor stages, increased risk of metastasis, and poorer overall survival, making LINC01614 a promising diagnostic and prognostic biomarker in multiple cancer types[2][4][5][6]. It is not currently targeted by approved drugs nor categorized as a canonical receptor, enzyme, or therapeutic target; its principal role is as a regulatory RNA and clinical biomarker candidate[1][2][4][5][6].
