Overview

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1615 (LINC01615) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) located on chromosome 6 (chr6:169157162-169162992, GRCh38)[3]. It does not encode a protein but functions as a regulatory RNA molecule. LINC01615 is significantly upregulated in various cancers and is associated with cancer cell survival, especially under conditions of nutrient deprivation. Mechanistically, LINC01615 enhances cell survival by promoting the pentose phosphate pathway, reducing reactive oxygen species, and supporting nucleotide and lipid biosynthesis[2]. It acts in part by regulating the splicing of G6PD pre-mRNA via interaction with hnRNPA1, thereby facilitating the cancer metabolic adaptation under stress. High expression of LINC01615 correlates with more aggressive disease and altered immune cell infiltration, notably serving as a biomarker for prognosis in cancer patients. Silencing LINC01615 suppresses cell proliferation, invasion, and migration in several cancer model systems, highlighting its potential as a therapeutic target, though no direct drug interventions or approved therapies currently target this lncRNA[2][4][6].
