Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1667 (LINC01667) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) that does not encode a protein and is transcribed from the human genome locus 21p11.2[2]. LINC01667 is upregulated in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) tissues, where its increased expression is associated with poor overall survival. Functional studies show that LINC01667 promotes proliferation, migration, and invasion of HCC cells and suppresses their apoptosis. Mechanistically, LINC01667 can interact with MEG3 and downregulate its expression, leading to activation of the NF-κB pathway and promoting oncogenic processes[2][4]. LINC01667 also modulates the MAPK and PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathways, further contributing to cancer cell phenotypes. Clinically, LINC01667 is a promising diagnostic and prognostic biomarker for HCC, showing high sensitivity and specificity in distinguishing HCC tissues from non-cancerous tissues[2]. There is no current evidence that LINC01667 is directly targeted by any drugs or utilized as a therapeutic target.
