Overview

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1690 (LINC01690) is a human long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA), defined as an autonomously transcribed RNA molecule longer than 200 nucleotides that does not overlap any known protein-coding gene[1][3][5]. LincRNAs, including LINC01690, are part of the broader family of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and are recognized for their roles in regulating gene expression, chromatin architecture, RNA stability, and sometimes enhancer-like activity. Although thousands of lincRNAs have been annotated, only a minority have clearly defined biological roles; in general, lincRNAs act through diverse and often tissue-specific mechanisms. There is currently no evidence that LINC01690 acts as a direct therapeutic target, interacts with approved drugs, or serves as a clinical biomarker[1][3][5]. Specific functions or disease associations of LINC01690 remain to be clarified in the published literature.
