Overview

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1705 (LINC01705) is a cytoplasm-enriched long non-coding RNA implicated in the progression of breast cancer. It acts as a competing endogenous RNA by sponging miR-186-5p, thereby regulating the expression of TPR, a protein involved in mitosis and cell proliferation. Overexpression of LINC01705 promotes migration, invasion, proliferation, and cell cycle progression of breast cancer cells, while downregulation inhibits these oncogenic processes and promotes apoptosis. LINC01705 is considered a regulatory factor and potential biomarker for breast cancer, but it is not reported to interact with any known drugs nor used as a therapeutic target as of current research.

Safety considerations

No drug-based safety concerns or therapeutic challenges are reported, as LINC01705 is under preclinical investigation and not currently a direct drug targetGeneral concerns relate to its oncogenic function (upregulation may promote cancer growth and metastasis)
