Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1711 (LINC01711) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) that does not code for protein but plays regulatory roles in gene expression, particularly by functioning as a competing endogenous RNA that sponges microRNAs. Elevated LINC01711 expression has been observed in several cancers, including glioblastoma and breast cancer, where it promotes tumor cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and may confer resistance to apoptosis. Mechanistically, LINC01711 acts by sequestering microRNAs such as miR-34a and miR-4510, thereby upregulating downstream effectors like ZEB1 and NELFE, leading to changes in cancer cell behavior. High levels of LINC01711 are associated with poor prognosis in glioblastoma and possibly other malignancies, suggesting its potential utility as both a biomarker and a therapeutic target.
