Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1722 (LINC01722) is a member of the long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA) family. LincRNAs are RNA transcripts longer than 200 nucleotides that do not overlap with protein-coding regions of the genome and lack protein-coding potential[3]. They are found primarily in the nucleus or cytoplasm, where they regulate gene expression through a variety of mechanisms, such as acting as molecular decoys or sponges for microRNAs or interacting with proteins involved in chromatin modification and gene transcription[1][3]. While other lincRNAs are increasingly recognized for their roles in cancer biology, immune regulation, and cellular homeostasis, there is currently no published, specific evidence for disease association, drug targeting, or biomarker utility for LINC01722. Its function, clinical relevance, and interaction partners remain largely uncharacterized.
