Overview

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1725 (LINC01725) is a human gene encoding a long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA), a subclass of long non-coding RNAs that are transcribed from regions of the genome more than 200 nucleotides in length and do not overlap protein-coding genes. LincRNAs such as LINC01725 are thought to participate in gene regulation, chromatin remodeling, and epigenetic modification, often exhibiting high tissue specificity in their expression. Although many lincRNAs have been implicated in development and disease, the specific biological function of LINC01725 is not well characterized, but it has been associated with altered expression in liver diseases such as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and cirrhosis[1][2][3][5]. No drugs are known to target LINC01725, and it is not currently regarded as a validated therapeutic target.
