Overview

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 174 (LINC00174) is a long noncoding RNA located on human chromosome 7 and belongs to the family of antisense lncRNAs[5]. LINC00174 does not code for a protein but regulates the expression of other genes through interaction with microRNAs, acting as a competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA). It is abnormally expressed in several cancers, including glioma, non-small cell lung cancer, colorectal cancer, and thymic epithelial tumors, where it impacts key cellular processes such as proliferation, migration, invasion, apoptosis, and glycolysis[1][2][4][6]. Mechanistically, LINC00174 functions by sponging specific microRNAs (including miR-31-5p and miR-152-3p), thereby regulating the expression of downstream target genes such as LATS2 and SLC2A1[1][2]. Its dysregulation in tumor tissues and correlation with prognosis make it a candidate biomarker and a potential molecular therapeutic target, although no direct drug interactions are currently known.
