Overview

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1783 (LINC01783) is a long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA), a subclass of long non-coding RNAs transcribed from regions not overlapping protein-coding genes[1][5]. It is predominantly cytoplasmic and acts as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) that regulates key microRNAs and gene networks in cancer[2][4]. LINC01783 is notably up-regulated in several cancers, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and tongue squamous cell carcinoma (TSCC), where it promotes tumor cell proliferation, migration, invasion, cell cycle progression, and EMT[2][4]. In NSCLC, LINC01783 enhances tumor growth by sponging miR-432-5p, thereby upregulating DLL-1 and activating the Notch signaling pathway[2]. In TSCC, it promotes cell cycle and EMT by repressing miR-199b-5p and increasing expression of cyclin D1 and mesenchymal markers[4]. LINC01783 is currently considered a potential therapeutic target and biomarker for cancer progression, but there are no approved drugs directly targeting it, and its therapeutic manipulation is still experimental.
