Overview

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1801 (LINC01801) is an autonomously transcribed, non-coding RNA sequence longer than 200 nucleotides that does not overlap any protein-coding genes[1][3][5]. LINC01801 belongs to the long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA) family, which constitutes a major subset of long non-coding RNAs in the human genome. LincRNAs are known to regulate chromatin structure, gene transcription, and genome architecture, often exerting tissue-specific regulatory effects through various mechanisms such as enhancer-associated activity and recruitment of chromatin-modifying complexes[3][5]. Only a small fraction of lincRNAs have been assigned specific biological roles or disease associations, but as a class, they are implicated in fine-tuning gene expression and have growing evidence for functional significance in malignancy and other disease contexts[3][2][5]. For LINC01801, detailed functional characterization remains limited, and it is not currently established as a therapeutic target, clinical biomarker, or direct participant in drug interactions.

Mechanism of action

Not applicable. There are no drugs targeting LINC01801. In general, lincRNAs can modulate gene expression through interaction with chromatin or transcription machinery, but LINC01801 itself is not a current drug target.
