Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1828 (LINC01828) is a human long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA), defined as an autonomously transcribed RNA longer than 200 nucleotides that does not overlap annotated protein coding genes. Like other lincRNAs, LINC01828 does not encode a protein but may be involved in the regulation of gene expression, modulation of chromatin structure, RNA stabilization, and transcriptional regulation. lincRNAs often show tissue specificity and can have enhancer-like activities, influencing expression of neighboring genes or participating in the formation of ribonucleoprotein complexes. There is currently no direct evidence of LINC01828 being a therapeutic target, nor specific disease associations or drug interactions reported for this molecule.
