Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1833 (LINC01833) is a long non-coding RNA highly expressed in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and lung adenocarcinoma tissues, where it promotes tumor progression, proliferation, migration, invasion, and resistance to apoptosis. LINC01833 exerts its oncogenic functions largely by acting as a competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) that sponges tumor-suppressive microRNAs such as miR-519e-3p and miR-335-5p, thereby derepressing cancer-promoting genes like S100A4. It is also subject to regulatory modifications such as m6A methylation, which further influences its activity in tumor biology. LINC01833’s high expression is associated with worse prognosis in lung cancer patients, marking it as a potential prognostic biomarker and a candidate therapeutic target in lung cancer, although no agents currently target it directly in clinical practice.
