Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1836 (LINC01836) is a long non-coding RNA gene, affiliated with the lncRNA class, that is not translated into protein[5][1]. LINC01836 expression is significantly upregulated in multiple cancer types, particularly in colorectal cancer, where its higher expression correlates with larger tumor sizes, lymph node and distant metastasis, advanced TNM stage, and poor prognosis[2][4]. Functional studies indicate that LINC01836 promotes proliferation, migration, and invasion of colorectal cancer cells by regulating SLC17A9 expression through sponging miR-1226-3p, acting as a competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA)[2]. Thus, LINC01836 is proposed as a novel prognostic biomarker and a potential therapeutic target in malignancy, although no drug interactions or established pharmacological modulators are currently known[2][4][5].
