Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1850 (LINC01850)

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1850 (LINC01850) is part of the lincRNA family, which are RNA molecules longer than 200 nucleotides and do not encode proteins. LINC01850, like other lincRNAs, is transcribed from intergenic regions, meaning it does not overlap with annotated protein-coding genes. LincRNAs generally act as regulatory molecules, functioning to fine-tune gene expression with remarkable tissue specificity through various mechanisms. These include chromatin remodeling, modulation of transcription, and RNA stabilization. While some lincRNAs are well-studied and highly relevant to disease (such as Xist and HOTAIR), most, including LINC01850, have poorly characterized biological and disease roles. There is currently no direct evidence implicating LINC01850 in human disease or as a therapeutic target.
