Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1870 (LINC01870)

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1870 (LINC01870) is a member of the long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA) class, defined by being longer than 200 nucleotides and transcribed from intergenic regions without overlap with known protein-coding loci[1][5]. LincRNAs are a subclass of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and are estimated to comprise a large portion of the human non-coding transcriptome[1][5]. Although some lincRNAs have been implicated in chromatin modulation, transcriptional regulation, and other cellular processes, only a minority have been functionally characterized, and the function of LINC01870 remains unreported. LincRNAs in general may mediate gene expression control, possibly affecting nearby genes, and are increasingly studied in disease contexts; however, as of now, LINC01870 has not been identified as a functional molecule or therapeutic target in the scientific literature[1][3][5][7].
