Overview

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1871 (LINC01871) is a human long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA) gene that does not encode a protein. It is expressed in various tissues and is strongly implicated in the regulation of immune responses. High expression of LINC01871 is associated with immune activation gene sets, including those for interferon gamma and alpha responses, T cell regulation, and inflammatory processes. In cancer, particularly breast cancer, high LINC01871 expression is linked to favorable prognosis in basal-like subtypes and correlates with cytotoxic immune activity and immune checkpoint molecules. In autoimmune disease, such as Sjögren’s syndrome, LINC01871 is differentially expressed and may regulate T cell growth and immune pathways. LINC01871 functions primarily as a biomarker of immune activation and prognosis in cancer and autoimmunity, but it is not considered a classic drug target like a receptor, enzyme, or transporter[1][2][3][4][6].
