Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1898 (LINC01898)

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1898 (LINC01898) is a member of the long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA) family and is defined as a non-protein coding RNA transcript more than 200 nucleotides in length that does not overlap annotated protein-coding genes. LINC01898, like other lincRNAs, is thought to regulate gene expression by mechanisms including chromatin remodeling, transcriptional regulation, and RNA stabilization, although its specific molecular functions remain poorly characterized. LINC01898 has appeared in panels of long non-coding RNAs used to distinguish cancer tissue from normal tissue in computational classification models, indicating possible dysregulation or biomarker potential in cancer, specifically lung cancer.
