Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1928 (LINC01928) is a gene encoding a long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA), a subclass of long non-coding RNAs. LincRNAs are defined as autonomously transcribed RNA molecules longer than 200 nucleotides that do not overlap with coding regions of annotated protein-coding genes. LincRNAs, including LINC01928, primarily function in gene regulation, acting as regulators of chromatin structure, transcription, and occasionally RNA stability, with diverse and context-dependent roles. Although some lincRNAs have disease associations, including in cancer, there is limited direct evidence that LINC01928 itself serves as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or has validated drug interactions. LincRNAs are emerging as molecular markers in research and their tissue-specific expression may relate to disease processes such as tumorigenesis, but most remain poorly characterized at the functional and mechanistic levels.
