Overview

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1933 (LINC01933) is a human long non-coding RNA located on chromosome 5q33, classified as an lncRNA and sometimes referenced by the alias CTB-12O2.1[1][3][5][7]. While its detailed biological function remains poorly characterized, it is believed to participate in the regulation of gene expression, possibly through chromatin remodeling, sponging of miRNAs, or interactions with other gene regulatory elements[2][3]. LINC01933 has been included in multi-lncRNA signatures for predicting the prognosis of ovarian cancer and may have diagnostic or prognostic biomarker value in this context[2]. However, LINC01933 is not a protein-coding gene, nor is it a canonical therapeutic target such as an enzyme, receptor, transporter, or ion channel. No specific drugs or targeted therapies are currently known to act directly on LINC01933. Its role in disease and detailed mechanism of action remain to be established in future studies.

Biological functions

Regulation of gene expression (likely through transcriptional and post-transcriptional mechanisms)Potential modulation of immune response pathways and B cell receptor signaling (as inferred from lncRNA panels in cancer and immune-related studies)Possible involvement in energy metabolism regulation (based on analogy to similar lncRNAs, although this is not demonstrated specifically for LINC01933)
03

Disease associations

Cancer (identified in prognostic models for ovarian cancer and as a possible biomarker component in cancer studies)Other (functional role remains largely uncharacterized; inclusion in panels for immune modulation, but specific mechanism not established)
04

Biomarkers

Potential utility as a biomarker for prognosis in ovarian cancer when used in multi-lncRNA signatures
