Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1975 (LINC01975) is an autonomously transcribed non-coding RNA that does not overlap protein-coding genes and is longer than 200 nucleotides. As a member of the long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA) subclass, LINC01975 is believed to modulate the expression of neighboring genes, participate in chromatin architecture, and regulate transcription through various mechanisms. While the specific biological function of LINC01975 has not been experimentally characterized, lincRNAs in general are emerging as important regulators in tissue specificity and disease processes, notably cancer. There is evidence suggesting the dysregulation of certain lincRNAs, including LINC01975, may provide novel biomarkers for cancer diagnosis or prognosis, but no direct role as a therapeutic target or drug interaction has been established.
