Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1990 (LINC01990)

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1990 (LINC01990) is an autonomously transcribed non-coding RNA gene located intergenically, encoding a transcript longer than 200 nucleotides that does not overlap annotated protein-coding genes. It has no protein product, but is classified as a lincRNA, a subset of long non-coding RNAs known for regulating gene expression, often with tissue-specific activity. lincRNAs broadly function through chromatin remodeling, transcriptional control, and enhancer-like roles, sometimes fine-tuning expression of neighboring or distant genes.
