Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1991 (LINC01991)

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1991 (LINC01991) is a member of the lincRNA class. LincRNAs are long non-coding RNAs over 200 nucleotides in length that do not overlap with protein-coding genes. LINC01991 is transcribed as RNA but does not encode a protein. Like other lincRNAs, its exact cellular function is largely unknown, but this family of molecules is believed to participate in the regulation of gene expression, potentially through chromatin remodeling or interaction with transcriptional regulators[1][5][7].
