Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 2009 (LINC02009)

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 2009 (LINC02009) is a long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA), defined as an RNA transcript greater than 200 nucleotides in length that does not overlap protein-coding genes[3]. LincRNAs as a class are known to modulate chromatin structure, regulate gene transcription, and play roles in epigenetic regulation, often displaying tissue-specific expression[3][5]. LINC02009 has been reported as upregulated in peripheral blood mononuclear cells from patients with systemic lupus erythematosus, but no direct functional studies or mechanistic roles have been ascribed to this transcript as of the current literature[4]. LINC02009 is not classified as a therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or similar druggable protein, and there is no evidence that it is presently targeted by any drugs or therapeutics.
