Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 2023 (LINC02023) is a type of human long non-coding RNA that does not overlap protein-coding genes and is greater than 200 nucleotides in length. It is notably downregulated in colorectal cancer, where it stabilizes the tumor suppressor protein PTEN by preventing its ubiquitination and subsequent degradation, thereby inhibiting tumor cell proliferation and promoting apoptosis. LINC02023 is under investigation as a potential novel therapeutic target for restoring PTEN function in colorectal cancer, though it has not been shown to directly interact with drugs and is not classified as a traditional receptor, enzyme, or transporter.
Facilitates PTEN protein stabilization by blocking PTEN ubiquitination. Suppresses cell proliferation and tumorigenesis (by promoting apoptosis and affecting the cell cycle via PTEN).
