Target intelligence / Profile preview
LINC02196 (Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 2196) is a human gene that encodes a long intergenic non-coding RNA and does not produce a protein product[1][5]. LincRNAs are a subclass of long non-coding RNAs that are transcribed from regions of the genome that do not overlap with protein-coding genes, and are generally longer than 200 nucleotides[3]. Functionally, lincRNAs—including LINC02196—are thought to fine-tune the expression of neighboring genes through diverse mechanisms such as chromatin remodeling, enhancer-associated activity, and transcriptional regulation with tissue-specific effects[3][7]. Most lincRNAs are not well characterized, and the specific role of LINC02196 in human physiology or disease has not been functionally validated to date. No drugs or clinical biomarkers involving LINC02196 have been reported, and there is no evidence suggesting it is a conventional therapeutic target.
