Target intelligence / Profile preview
Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 2218 (LINC02218) is a member of the long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA) family, transcribed from the human chromosome 5 (location: 17,444,010-17,487,371, forward strand)[3]. LincRNAs are a subclass of long non-coding RNAs situated between protein-coding genes; they do not code for proteins but can regulate gene expression at the transcriptional and chromatin levels, often exhibiting tissue specificity[1][7]. LINC02218 is predicted to have roles in transcription coactivation and assembly of the RNA polymerase II preinitiation complex[5], but its specific biological functions, interactions, disease relevance, or therapeutic potential have not yet been described in the published literature as of the current date. There is no evidence that LINC02218 is a direct therapeutic target or involved in any major disease pathway, distinguishing it from some other lincRNAs with established disease associations (such as LINC01116); current knowledge on LINC02218 remains largely at the bioinformatic or annotation level[3][5].
