Target intelligence / Profile preview
Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 2253 (LINC02253) is a long non-coding RNA gene that does not encode a protein but plays a functional role in gene regulation[1][5][9]. In gastric cancer, LINC02253 is upregulated and associated with larger tumor size, lymph node metastasis, advanced TNM stage, and poor prognosis[3][6]. Mechanistically, LINC02253 stabilizes KRT18 mRNA by increasing its m6A methylation, recruiting the methyltransferase METTL3, and subsequently upregulating KRT18 expression. This activation leads to increased proliferation, migration, and invasion of gastric cancer cells via the MAPK/ERK signaling pathway[3][4][6]. LINC02253 represents a potentially actionable therapeutic target and a candidate prognostic biomarker for gastric cancer. There is currently no evidence of clinically approved drugs directly interacting with LINC02253.
