Overview

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 2362 (LINC02362) is a cytoplasm-localized long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) that does not encode a protein and is primarily classified as a long intergenic non-coding RNA. Its best-characterized biological role is in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), where it acts as a tumor suppressor. LINC02362 regulates the cellular transcriptome by functioning as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA), binding to and downregulating specific microRNAs (such as miR-516b-5p and miR-18a-5p) in the cytoplasm, thereby releasing their repression of proteins like SOCS2 and FDX1. These downstream events result in inhibition of cancer cell proliferation, migration, invasion, promotion of apoptosis, and attenuation of epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition. LINC02362 is associated with favorable prognosis in HCC and may serve as a candidate prognostic biomarker, but it is not currently a direct therapeutic target nor a target for any known drugs[2][3][4][5].
