Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 2365 (LINC02365/LVCAT8) is a long non-coding RNA gene located at chromosome 4q35.1, most studied in the context of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). It acts as a tumor suppressor, inhibiting migration, invasion, and metastasis—mainly by regulating the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and transcriptionally activating the neighboring gene FOXA2. Its suppression in tumor tissues is associated with poor prognosis, higher metastatic risk, and earlier recurrence in HCC. LINC02365 is frequently listed as a candidate biomarker in liver cancer and is part of a growing group of lncRNAs being evaluated as prognostic indicators and therapeutic targets in oncology research.
As a lncRNA, it modulates gene expression (e.g., transcriptional activation of FOXA2 via recruitment of SMAD3, suppression via interaction with EZH2/H3K27Me3 epigenetic modifier).
